ola everyone,

thats about the extent of my spanish afta my trip to barcelona and valencia
last wk. but what a week.  its funny ive started to rack up some
destinations now in my travel bag, but as most of u know normally no matter
how good a place is, by the end of ur trip ur always lookin fwd to gettin
home (if i can call london home).  but not spain.  i love this place.
great weather!  great nitelife!  fantastic food (particularly seafood, i am
now the tapas king altho my waistline is showing it), good wine and beer,
the list just goes on.  diid i mention a high percentage of extremely
beautiful women?

so anyway, i could honestly say that spain is a place i could definately
live in for at least a while.  the climate is very similiar to back home,
warm and dry and the atmosphere is great.  the spanish lead such a well
balanced and relaxing lifestyle, they work, but are very social and happy
people who definately know how to enjoy themselves thru the above mentioned
vices.  overall i was very impressed with spain and its people and so i tip
my hat to them.  the only problem i had obviously was my inability to speak
the dialect, and as those of u whove bn there kno its not a strong english
speaking country.  alot of people find this frustrating and i was one of
them.  i was not at all frustrated with the spanish but with myself.  as i
believe if they were comin to oz they should attempt to speak english, i in
turn should try to speak spanish whilst in their country.  i did my best
and fumbled a few important phrases, but all in all i pretty much sucked,
but i think most of them appreciated the effort.  but  as this place was
amazing and i plan to return next yr i am actually goin to begin spanish
classes afta my summer break.  one of the teachers im friends with is
starting a beginners class afta the hols so this wil give me the
opportunity to get the basics down.  i see spanish as a great language tool
as it is also used in mexico, and most of south america which are on my
destination list.  also it bears many similiarities to italian, portuguese
and french.

so my trip was basically broken up into 2 parts,  barcelona in which i did
some sight seeing, including the gaudi park, noucamp (barcelona) football
stadium which is amazing (seats over 100 000 and had photo with this years
champions league trophy), the massive cathedral and some excellent seafood
dining at the olympic port.  also did lots of drinking and partying at
nite!!!  then valencia for the last three days was all about relaxation.
aside from the tomato throwing festival held at the end of aug each yr im
honestly not sure how much sight seeing valencia has to offer.  ive done so
much recently on my trips thru egypt etc that i wanted to have 3 days, just
layin on the beach, drinking wine and cold beer and eating delicous food.
so thats wat i did!!  and i guess thats y i didnt wana go home!!

so thats it, im back at work, summer has arrived and to all my melb friends
id just like to say im seeking my revenge for the great summer i missed bak
home becase 11 of the last 12 days in london have been 25-30 deg and sunny.
unbelievable!!!  wimbledon is on in 2 wks and im feverishly tryin to get my
hands on some lleyton hewitt tix.  the socceroos have started brilliantly,
(hope england choke couldnt stand it if they won the cup would neva here the
end of it from these knobs).  then the 1st week of july i head to pamploma
in spain to test my getaway sticks with the bulls and neck some sangria and
party party party!!  so til i write again take care all, il try to fwd some
more photos of egypt and also spain and london (ive been doing some touristy
shit finally around town).

hope to hear some replies,

emo

Hey kids,

The mid term break saw me take off Ayia Napa ˆ a southern part of Cyprus,
renowned for its beautiful beaches and rampant night life∑ it certainly
didn‚t disappoint. Check my blogs site for more info and a very good perve.

Back to school yesterday as tired as ever, but as brown as ever. One
student, tried to impress his mates earlier today, by calling me an Aussie
Nigger, not the worst thing I‚ve been called, but I gave him a detention,
which he surprisingly attended. In the detention I simply said, "Listen, the
word Nigger is discriminative - but you‚re right it is a good tan isn‚t it."

I presume world cup fever is beginning take over in Oz. You should see it
here. I‚ll be in Germany next week for the Australia v Brazil game.  Look
for us ˆ in a bid to make the coverage, we'll be the drunken Aussies,
possibly clad in only g-strings and gold body paint.

Must fly  - I'm in desperate need of moisturiser reapplication,

Hope Melbournes weather is bringing you love,
Love and french kisses to all,
DJA

Hi all -

We are up and running. It has been a tough week trying to get things organised. They are a hard bunch to deal with when you don't have a social security number or any US rental history! Still, we have managed to get an apartment that we will move into tonight or tomorrow morning and I am now up and running at work.

We have walked all over town (we looked at about 35 apartments) and also headed out to New Jersey on Sat to buy all our stuff from IKEA. It is hilarious - you get a free IKEA bus from Manhattan, buy all your stuff and then they deliver it. Our apartment will look like an IKEA showroom when it all arrives!

I tell you what, Melbourne gets a bum wrap when it comes to unpredictable weather - it is much worse here. One minute you are sweating in the sun and the next there is a torrential downpour! We went and saw a Broadway musical but other than that it has been non-stop apartment hunting. There is room for you all to stop past and visit... we bought an extra double mattress and look forward to you guys coming over. We are located in Grammercy which is quite a nice, funky area at the upper end of the downtown area. It really is an amazing city - the scale of everything blows you away. Although the food is pretty ordinary and the coffee even worse.

This is now my full time email address. Good to see the Swannies starting to wind up for another crack at the title... and gee, aren't you Blue boys flying...

Cheers for now -
Wes
