Round 18:UPDATE

27th August 2007

Round 18 saw the Seniors and Reserves both battle it out against Peninsula OBs at The Playing Fields, while the 19's played Bulleen at Ted Ajani. The reserves as they have done for the entire season started the day off in fine fashion. Pete Flaskis and Darryl Stevens were able to control the flow of the game and fight off any comeback Peninsula had in mind. Sitting on 95 goals coming into the last round, Tony Bournon was able to slot his 100th goal with little than 5 minutes remaining.  The crowd went so wild that Tony had to be escorted into the changerooms just so adoring fans would leave the ground, when he came back he was able to celebrate with team mates on a great win and another finals campaign for the reserves.Congratulations Tony and wishing you plenty more majors come finals football. The Seniors needed to win to have any chance of claiming 2nd spot and the double chance in September. With a few key play makers back in the side the Panthers strolled back into form with a 54 point win over Peninsula, Brent Fairbanks continued his goal kicking form with 11 of the best while second gamer Matty 'Staggas,Shambles and StaggChilli' Campbell showed everyone at Pantherland how good he is with a blistering performance. Following a good day at Keysy, the seniors were told that Oakleigh knocked off Hampton by less than a goal, which puts the Panthers back to second on the ladder with a double chance. The 19's again had a tough day at the office, battling with the conditions down at Ted Ajani. Bulleen were far more determined than the young pups who were easily pushed aside. Better Players for the Panthers were Brett Felsenthal and Simon O'Halloran.
