Round 17: UPDATE

27th August 2007

Round 17 saw the seniors and reserves head out to Ted Ajani Reserve in Templestowe to take on Bulleen who were still fighting for that elusive 4th spot, while the 19's had the tough assignment of knocking off ladder leader Old Ivanhoe. The reserves again started the day in fine fashion by soundly beating Bulleens reserves by 57 points. Tony Bournon kicked 11, which now puts him up to 95 goals for the season with one game left. Pete Flaskis was causing headaches for Bulleen who looked to have no answers to the Panthers speed and superior use of the football. The Seniors had a tough day at the office losing to Bulleen by 102 points and losing 2nd spot on the ladder. Bulleen played Ted Ajani Reserve far greater than the panthers and were able to gain a comfortable lead going into to the change rooms at half time. The panthers came out in the second half keen to make amends, unfortuantly Bulleen gained to much confidence in the first half and kicked 10 goals to 3 in the second half. Better players for the day were Brothers Fairbanks and Cam 'FOZ' Follet. The only way the seniors can gain second spot back is if Oakleigh beat Hampton Rovers next weekend and The Panthers beat Penisula OB. The 19's played one of the best junior footy teams in the VAFA on Saturday. They were taught a lesson by the hard running Old Ivanhoe and could do little to stop the influx of goals. Better players for OMFC were Shane Alexander and Michael Myers-Snyders.
