Getting to the business end of the season as the 10-2 Bullants make the long trip down to Keysborough. After getting back in the four last week, this is a vital game for us to solidify our spot in the 4 and give us a shot at the top 2. A couple of big ins with Chicken Parma back and Snowy from Casey.

Our tall timber did the main damage in the second as Banksy snapped truly from a boundary throw in and again slotted another from a strong contested mark. Chaddy snapped another and Biggsy found Snowy from 40 out. The Bullants snagged 4 of their own including one on the half time siren; up by 9 pts at the main break. Good qu

It was probably the coldest Saturday we have had all year, and the Oval at Keysborough was beginning to show the signs of the heavy recent rains. These conditions, coupled with the fact that Bulleen Templestowe needed to win to keep their finals chances alive, ensured it was going to be a tough battle for the Panthers.
The game started off with plenty of tackling and neither team able to get much clean use of the footy. Both teams were on their game; however the Panthers managed to get the ball wide to running players, and in turn created more options for their forwards. Tony Bournon was in great touch, making the most of all opportunities, and getting us an early lead on the scoreboard. At the first break, we had managed to create a handy 13 point lead, however the margin probably exaggerated the difference between the two teams.
The game opened up early in the second term, and again it was our ability to switch the ball and use the run and superior skills of our half backs and wings. Jesse Prowse, Dale Messina & Dave Alexander led the way creating the run, and delivery into the forward line, whilst Mat Elliot took mark after mark around the ground. We kicked away, with the aid of a small breeze, and by the main break we had a comfortable 43 point lead.
The challenge at half time was put to all players to make sure we capitalized on the great first half, and kept the pressure on for the full game. Bulleen Templestowe had other ideas and came out firing in the third term. We lacked the same intensity as a team, although the skipper Daryl Stevens kept his intensity up, and showed the rest of the team what was required, constantly taking throwing himself at a contest, and preventing further attacks forward from the opposition.
We regrouped at the last change and won the last quarter, which was very pleasing, and ensured a good win for the day.
Next week sees us head out to Ringwood to face Aquinas, and gives us the chance to make amends for the loss in round 1. Aquinas are in 5th spot, only a game behind, so once again we are faced with a huge challenge. Bring it on….

The Under 19’s just can’t quite put it all together in one game this year. We started poorly on Saturday against Beaumaris, were competitive in the second and third quarters, and let them run away with it in the last. In the end a ten goal loss was not a true reflection of the game.
Beaumaris kicked four goals to one in the first quarter, and although we squandered a couple of chances, this is where we lost the game. We showed that we could match them in the second quarter when all of our players lifted after Jamie let them know that more was required.
David Bardoel for the second week in a row was our best player, marking strongly and busting packs. He was well supported by James Fisher, Jarrod Lumsden and Mike Myers-Snyders, who were consistent all day. Robbie Chislett made the most of his opportunities kicking 2 good goals, while Daniel Alexander continues to impress with his attack on the footy and his courage. Jamie Brohier also played well in the back line as did Daniel Hull.
Although we were five goals down at three quarter time, we still thought that we had a chance. We went forward early but hit the post and Beaumaris responded with two quick goals and the game was lost.
Next week we take on Haileybury at McKinnon in what promises to be a good game.
